88 Killa is a Fort Worth-based hip-hop lyricist leaving his imprint on the Dallas-Fort Worth music scene. He was once a member of Brain Gang, a late-2000s influential punk-rap group that contributed to the elevation of Dallas’ music scene. He was formerly known as Killa MC. Now, 88 Killa is on a journey to single-handedly shake up the scene and create his own legacy.
His award-winning 2016 EP, 88 BPM, garnered praise from various music industry outlets. 88 Killa wanted to showcase his affection for his city by taking listeners into his mind through his lyricism backed by funk-influenced production. The release was a second for him under London record label DEFDISCO before amicably departing ways with the label and returning under his own imprint 81G records. 88 Killa’s first full-length album “88 Special” was released in 2021. Known for his charismatic personality, 88 Killa recently received a nomination at the 2017 Dallas Observer Music Awards for Best Rap Hip/Hop Act and as of 2021, his music has been inducted into the official database of the Fort Worth Public Library.
